Happy International Women’s Day!!
International Women’s day is on March 8th every year. It is celebrated to raise awareness about women’s equality and celebrate women’s achievement in different genres of life. Women’s day has been observed and celebrated since the early 1900s.
Women empowerment and women equality has been a major issue since a long long time. Women have been deprived of their basic rights and have always been made feel inferior to men. This has not been the case of a particular nation, or particular group, or particular organization. This is the situation that has been experienced by women worldwide. Even today there are many issues that need to be raised and heard. And, probably that is the reason we need to mark a day in our calendar to celebrate women, their achievements, and raise a voice for their equality.
History of Women’s Day
Women’s day is celebrated all orotund the globe with the aim of recognizing them for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, social or political. The history of this celebration of women dates back to twentieth century. As per UN, “Officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977, International Women’s Day first emerged from the activities of labour movements at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe“. Early 1900 was the starting point of this movement. As per the international women’s day website- International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900’s – a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

I choose to challenge
I choose to challenge and raise my hand because I challenge inequality and gender bias that is still embedded in the society and make this an inclusive world, not just for women but for all kinds of people. I choose to challenge to make this world a better place, so that the future generation doesn’t have to go through the discrimination and inequality.
One thing I want to add is that everyday should be a women’s appreciation day. A day to cherish and be grateful to all the women and every role they play in our life- a mother, a daughter, a teacher, a mentor, a sister, a wife and many more roles that they take when demanded.
