Who wouldn’t like to save some money? Or, get some discount when shopping? I am sure there isn’t anyone who would say they are not interested in discounts and savings. I love shopping, both online and in-store. Also, I try to find ways to save some extra bucks. In the quest of getting some discounts, I found out about Rakuten, formerly known as Ebates. So, I want to share my honest review and experience on Rakuten.
What is Rakuten?
Rakuten is an online platform via which you can shop in numerous stores and get cashback later. If you are looking for a specific product, you can simply search for it and check if cashback is being offered. Initially, Rakuten had online shopping cashback offers, but now you can get cash back while shopping in-store as well. Also, it is a genuine and safe place to shop.
Shopping online for cashback
Shopping online using Rakuten and getting cash back is very simple. You can simply log in to your Rakuten account via browser and select the store you want to shop and finish up your shopping. You can also download the Rakuten application on your mobile device. You can simply open your Rakuten app, search and select the store you want to shop, and complete your shopping. You can also download the Rakuten Cash button, which will be displayed in your browser bar. Even if you forget to log into your Rakuten account, you will get notified of cashback and discounts once you start shopping. Rakuten also has its own visa credit card that does not have an annual fee. When you use the credit card to shop, you will start getting cashback.
Shopping in-store for cashback
t is easy to earn cashback while shopping in-store via Rakuten. All you have to do is add a credit card to your Rakuten account. Then link in-store cashback offers to your card and once you shop in-store, you will be notified of the cash back you received from the purchase.
What’s next after shopping?
Once the purchase is complete, we receive a thank you email with the order details. We will receive another email in few weeks with an update of the cashback amount we will be receiving from the transaction. After that, all you have to do is wait for your cashback. And you will receive an email again when the cashback is on its way.
How do you get paid?
There are two ways of getting your cashback by using Rakuten:
You can simply select to receive a check, which will be mailed to you. This might take some time and a check will be sent via mail.
You can link your PayPal account to your Rakuten account. With this, your cashback will be sent to your PayPal account directly. You will get your cashback faster by choosing this option.
My Experience so far
I got to know about Rakuten, then Ebates around mid-2016. Since then I have been using it to make online purchases. I mostly use its mobile app to shop. I never had any issues while shopping through the app. It is quite simple to use. I opted to receive checks initially as I was new to this, but now I get the money deposited in my PayPal account.
Since I never had any issues shopping with Rakuten, I have never contacted customer service. With this said, I will not be able to comment on it’s customer service department.
The only drawback for me so far- If you forget to use Rakuten while shopping, there is no other alternative to receive the cashback. Many times I happened to shop and then realize that I did not use Rakuten. My overall Rakuten experience has been awesome.
Rakuten is a Japanese word that translates to Optimistic in English. I can say that I am optimistic about Rakuten and will be using it for a long long time.
Would I recommend it?
Oh yes! I highly recommend using Rakuten. Like I said earlier, who wouldn’t want free money. And it is simply receiving cashback on shopping. There isn’t any catch, it makes money by getting commission from our purchase. Since they will be providing customers to numerous shopping stores, they get the commission. In short, Rakuten is easy to use, and fun to get cash backs which you wouldn’t if not for Rakuten, and highly encourage you to use it starting your next shopping trip.
