It is important to take extra care of your skin during the winter as the dry air makes skin drier than ever. When the skin gets dry it becomes itchy and gets irritated easily. Not only this, people even tend to suffer from skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. So, it is important to give special attention to the skin during winter times. Here are some of the Dos and Don’ts which can help make your skin feel better and healthy during the winter times.
Limit the use of hot water in the skin
One of the things we love to do during winters is taking a long hot bath. Yes, it’s cold and you don’t want to freeze by taking bath in cold water. But you have to reduce the use of hot water. Instead, go for lukewarm water. And limit the use of hot water in your skin, as it will dry out the skin quickly.
Use your winter Moisturizer
It is always important to keep your skin moisturized, but you have to pay special attention towards the moisturizer you are using in the winters. During winter season our skin tends to dry quickly. So, we need to cautiously choose those moisturizers for winter which has ingredients to maintain lasting moisture in the skin. Make an effort to apply moisturizer before you go to bed every night.
Skip frequent shaving
Frequent shaving dries the skin quickly. Especially during the winters when the air is already cold and dry, skin issues are triggered easily. Try avoiding shaving during winter as much as possible. If you have to shave, then make sure use moisturizer right after you do so.
Humidify the air
During winters the air gets drier. And with the use of the heating system, air that is circulating in our homes also becomes dry. It is important to invest in a humidifier so that the air we breathe has enough moisture. Which also helps in making our skin happy by providing enough moisture.
Water is the key to literally anything
As we know many of our problems can be solved or at least reduced by drinking water, it is the answer for taking care of skin as well. Regardless of the season, we should drink water to keep our skin healthy. But you have to focus more on the skin during the winter season, as our skin gets dehydrated easily during the cold season. And yes, water is the answer to keep the skin hydrated.
As the harsh air and lack of humidity make our skin dry, there will be many dead skin cells. With the dead cells present, not all the moisture that we try to provide to our skin reaches in the right place. Not only this, it also revives skin and removes the dry skin during the winter. So, it is important to exfoliate time and again during the winter season. And you can exfoliate skin using products in your kitchen pantries like coffee, avocado, honey and baking soda
Lastly, let’s not forget to use the Lip balm for our lips.
