Oily skin can be a result of unhealthy behavior, genetics, and sometimes can be a result of skin diseases. In most cases, it is not your fault that your skin is oily. If you have no one to blame, blame your ancestors because they gave you that skin. Hereditary does play a big role in oily skin, but so do hormones.

To be honest, most people experience oily skin at some point in their lives, and you should not worry about it all. It the problem persists for a long time, and it’s causing other skin breakouts and problems, you should consult with a dermatologist.

According to science, Oily skin is a result of too much Sebum. However, Sebum is not bad at all; it is a vital element that keeps your skin healthy.

In most cases, oily skin is not dangerous at all. However, sometimes that can lead to other problems such as Acne, Skin breakouts, and pimples. When you experience greasy skin appearance regularly, you have more chances of getting pimples. Pimples can cause other problems such as creating large pores on the skin and make your face look rough. People who experience think and oily skin can also have clogged pores which can lead to blackheads and other skin problems.

Following are some of the home remedies to help reduce oily skin.

  • Wash Your Face Regularly

Keeping your skin clean and dry is one of the best ways to get rid of oily skin. Washing your face regularly can reduce the amount of oil all together which can prevent oily skin. But,  do not use oily soaps and cleaning agents with fragrances. Always try to use dry soaps and medicated cleaning products.

  • Splash on the hot suds

Hot water is a good solvent says Hillard H. Perlstein, M.D., an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NY. According to him, the skin should be only washed using warm water, with plenty of soap.

  • Select cosmetics with care

This is one of the most important things to think about while taking care of your oily skin. Often times, while treating the oily skin, we overlook the side effects of the other cosmetics products that we use regularly. As a rule of thumb, always choose water-based cosmetic products over oil-based if you have oily skin.

  • Make Mine Mud

Clay masks and mud masks are worthwhile says Howard Donsky,  M.D., an associate professor of medicine at the University of Toronto at Toronto General Hospital. Masks can cleanse the skin surface greasiness. This might be just a temporary fix because masks normally do not deep clean the pores. So,  do not count on the effects lasting for a long time. However, this method can be used in addition to other remedies.

There is no magic cure for oily skin but you can do certain things to prevent it from happening. Here are a few things you can to do prevent oily skin:

  • Eat healthy : This is a major prevention method
